L2TP / IPSec
The L2TP Protocol itself does not feature an encryption. So this is managed by IPSec which uses AES to provide a 256 Bit encryption. This means that L2TP / IPSec is noticeably more secure than the PPTP – Protocol, which is only capable of 128 Bit encryption. Thank´s to it´s commonness, nearly every single operating system supports the L2TP / IPSec Protocol. It is even compatible with Android and iOS. Which means if you are searching for a VPN for your Android or iPhone, this is the protocol you are with a gread certainty using. The 256Bit encryption is the industrial standard for save encryptions, so that means the protocol is as safe as OpenVPN but a bit slower. We recommend to use it when OpenVPN is not available.
